Soul of Japan
Long exposures trace the passage of people through Japan’s temples, shrines and gardens. Figures soften into translucent forms, while architecture, trees and stone remain. Soul of Japan explores this meeting of stillness and movement: places that endure, and the fleeting lives that pass through them.
The Heliades
In Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the Heliades mourn their brother Phaethon until their bodies become poplars and their tears harden into amber. Photographed along the banks of the Po, these trees echo the sisters’ transformation. Still trunks and trembling foliage suggest bodies caught between human gesture and vegetal form. The Heliades explores a landscape where grief takes root, and movement carries the memory of another life.
