Gold through the leaves

Gold through the leaves — Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto · 金閣寺

From a closer position, Kinkaku-ji looks different. Rooflines and gold occupy more of the frame, and autumn leaves cross the edge of the pavilion.

The building remains familiar, but the branches bring this particular moment into the image. They interrupt the clean outline and make the season visible without needing to change the subject.

I like how a small change in viewpoint can return attention to a place that feels already known. Here the pavilion, its details and the leaves all need space. The photograph holds their brief overlap rather than trying to present the whole scene at once.
