Stone and a passing season

Stone and a passing season — Tokyo · 東京

A wall draws a firm line through the frame. Maple branches loosen it, and light catches leaves above the green ground.

The photograph was made in Tokyo. The wall and maple branches bring firm edges and shifting colour into the same view.

Stone and foliage hold different kinds of time. One gives the composition weight, while the other changes with the season and the hour. For a moment they share the same small stretch of the city. That meeting is what I wanted to keep in the photograph.
